dang, and here i was thinking I was turning 22 soon... hehe. 13 year olds play pvp and pve. They're also known as "n00bs". They're not actually 13, they just act 13. Reason I stick to PvE mainly? I can take henchies into PvE and get no backchat, or "i'm leeter than you!" rubbish. I can try that in PvP, turn off local chat and whispers so that the other team can't talk to me, but I wouldn't stand a chance of living, like I do in PvE
step back a moment and look at somthing very obvious.
there is this very large playground (soon to double in size) and here and there are a few very small sandboxes for the pvp elitists to fight it out in.
TGH site is dedicated to PVP and it has gone down the tubes steadily
the pve sites seem to be growing
your conclusion?
Trying to push forward that I'm wrong and this game wasn't created for PvP at all, that in fact it revolves entirely around PvE and PvP in GW was just thrown together as a last minute thing?
Can I use that word? My Boss is a Twonk (not really). My wife is a Twonk (only sometimes). My guildmates are Twonks (is that with an 's' or does it just stay twonk like deer), but only cuz none of them have logged on in over 2 weeks!
back on topic...
I like PvE and PvP, I am over 13, I am over 20, I am over 25, and I think your guild leader is a TWONK.
I hate it when ppl start in on the extremist/elitist stuff. Anyone who does X is stupid, or anyone who does X is a n00b. It is a matter of preference, not everyone over/under a certain age plays either PvP or PvE. Find another guild that doesn't have a twonk for a leader. I really like that word

I think I do about 95% PvE - 5% PvP. I like the idea of PvP but I don't have it in me to deal with the metagaming. The competition arenas are the only place I get my PvP kicks. 'Enter mission' and kick some behind. Anything above and beyond that level of planning either bores me to tears or rubs me the wrong way. I've put over 1,000 hours into this game and I still have 0 fame, yet I've unlocked practically everything.
The whole guild business leaves me cold as well. I started my own guild just to have a cool cape and to get recruiters off my back. A few RL friends have joined since then so it's really no longer the One Man Army Corps.

nope
just mentioning that the infamous Gaile/Alex team has stated that PVE is at least as important as PVP.
i was noting the landscape that seems to bear out that PVE is at least as important (if not more) than PVP.
i will also allow that the same duo also said PVP had an equal place in their sceme of things.
only noting that according to all the makers of the game it was NOT created as a pvp game with pve tacked on as an afterthought.
I'll be 30 in a few weeks, and I play PvE exclusively as far as Guild Wars goes. PvP is just a giant yawn-fest to me, even the snowball arena had me bored within 5-10 mins. If I want PvP I'll play BF2 or something designed specifically for it. Now, I have nothing against people that enjoy PvP, it just bores the heck outta me. TBH, sometimes PvE bores the heck outta me too. I guess I get bored easily lol. But then I think of a spot where maybe nobody has farmed in ages (wishful thinking I'm sure lol). I get some guildies together and we trek out to god-knows-where and see what we can find.
Location: In the Elfen Forests of Washington State

That Guild Master is a (fill in descriptive term here)
PvE is the best part of the game for me. My guild wants me to do GvG but sometimes I put myself offline and play while they are doing GvG so I can avoid it.
I want to get into PvP but one thing bothers me.
I do not like the Tinker Toy build a charcter approach to the whole thing. My guild wants me to build all these characters but I find it just wrong that you should just be able to do that. You should be required to play with characters that you have brought through PvE rather than just tweak around making your Spike Ranger uber Spiteful Spirit 55 hit point ultra Monk FOTM build that will be all wrong because you forgot to bring some obscure skill that is supposed to be set at some level and triggered every three seconds right after someone else triggers something else. It all makes me cringe and sounds totally non-fun.
Come with the characters you have, that you earned, with their flaws and their skills. Don't come with some patch-it kit that someone else tells you about.
Hey A-net how about setting up PvP with a real character requirement? No Tinker Toy characters allowed.

I think its pretty clear after seeing the posts in this thread that there are lots of people over 13 that play the game, pvp or pve. The guild leader was apparently a jerk. Add one more post to the Jerk thread.
LouAl,
anyone who does 'X' is a stupid/n00b?...
'anyone who does illegal drugs is a 'n00b'.'
'anyone who does illegal drugs is stupid'
Hey! It works!
Couldn't resist.
Ok people let's get this straight! It's not the 13 year olds that you should be stereotyping, it's the 12 year old devilish little bastards. (So I may be 13...)
I hate people who flame you for playing PvE. They always call people who play PvE "PvE n00bs" which is retarded because this a just a freaking game. It was made to creat enjoyment for people, so stop pissing in everyone's Cheerios like ya own the place.
I play both a lot, but imo its PvP that has more kids around, i mean just check international tombs, its like one big singles bar, everyones to 1337 to make a team so all the kids just stand around spamming wolfes.
PvE has its fair amount of kids aswel but without the ego's.
I like to play PvE before 11pm, then PvP after 11pm, seems that all the kids go to bed around 11 so you can get some decent teams.
If I was 13, the top of the line home system would've been a Commodore 64, and I'm not too sure Guild wars would run on that. I'm a traditional RPG type, weaned on SNES and Genesis classics, so I like being the hero who slays the monsters and saves the day. PvE all the way for me.
Lesson: Never listen to what people say. Face to face or in a social gathering when you hear "a pronouncement" on one thing or another, have a selection of verbal noises you can make like "Gosh" "Wow" "Gee" "Never knew that" "Really!" or just chuckle politely, or belch profoundly as seems most appropriate.
I laughed when the person who brought up this "Flame" topic told someone else to not start flaming. That was funny. I myself, play equal hours in PvE and PvP. It's great that they have these 2 different sections. I know all different kinds of people who play guild wars and only play PvE. One of which, is in his mid 20's. I wouldn't say PvE is for 13 year olds.
I think the one who started this thread should ask his Guild Leader to visit GWGuru and check out this thread
Looks like we PvE-fanatics are mostly over 13 (me being over 30 too), most of us have life (not me), most of us even do PvP too (not me).
And what comes to kids (I call kid everyone below 15, I sincerely apologize if any of you younger people find that offensive) I have met quite a bunch that have shown such a maturity I could have said they were about my age.
Of course each one of us have met the Obnoxious Kid, who insists to join a guild, you let him in and he starts asking could you make him an officer. You state no, and he starts asking for money. You say no, again, and he starts calling you all n00bs etc and leaves. That's so common... and spoils the reputation of the majority of kids.
While I was still playing on European servers, I met and teamed up with a group for mission (can't remember which... Frost Gate, I think). Everything went smoothily and we got it done rather quickly. The team didn't break up after it and we had a nice chat there, and I found out that the oldest of the rest of the team was 15. You couldn't really tell it from their speech or their behavior. They assured me not to judge anybody on GW before getting to know them better.
